Congressmen vow to resurrect FOI

Previous posts

THE brazen killing of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill by the Fourteenth Congress in the House of Representatives by adjourning on Friday without gratifying the measure is temporary, three authors of the bill said over the weekend. Rep. Erin Tañada of Quezon, Rep. Benny Abante of Manila and Rep. Walden Bello of Akbayan party-list vowed that they would refile the approved version in the Fifteenth Congress.

Tañada, Abante and Bello said that they have already instructed their staff to refile the bill at the earliest possible time because they do believe that the incoming administration of apparent president-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino 3rd will push the measure.

“We will urge the Aquino administration to mark the measure urgent to fast track the passage of bill which is long overdue,” Tañada told mediamen at the weekly forum, Kapihan sa Sulo in Quezon City. “They deliberately sabotage the measure.”
