Foreign chambers back Information Act

Foreign businessmen said that they favor immediate passage of the pending Freedom of Information Act.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines (JFC) declared its support for ratification of the Bicameral Conference Committee Report on House Bill 3732, or the Freedom of Information Act, which “will provide a clear, uniform and speedy procedure for access to information of public interest in the possession of any government agency” and “will set administrative, criminal and civil liability for violation of the right to information and provides proscription against excessive costs of access to information.”
