Lacson slams Trillanes for calling Robredo invitation ‘a trap’

MANILA, March 27 (PNA) — Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Monday slammed fellow Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV for calling the reported dinner invitation of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to Vice Pres. Leni Robredo “a trap” to politically neutralise her.

On his social media accounts, Lacson said instead of the Philippines’ two top officials arguing, it is better to see them at least try to patch things up.

“I’d rather see our Pres. and VP working together, not quarrelling,” Lacson said.

Trillanes, a staunch critic of Pres. Duterte, insisted that Pres. Duterte had used the same tactic to offer Robredo a cabinet post belatedly.

He said that “only the naive would be fooled”.

There have been several reports of plots to oust both Pres. Duterte and Vice Pres. Robredo by each other’s camps. However, both have denied a hand in those plots.

Reports showed that allies of Pres. Duterte have expressed plans to file an impeachment complaint against Robredo for sending a video message to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs where she criticised the conduct of the administration’s campaign against illicit drugs.

Pres. Duterte, however, asked them to stop any ouster move against the Vice President.

Malacanang has also confirmed that the President did invite Robredo to dinner with their families.
