BACOLOD CITY, Sept. 12 (PNA) — A woman from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental celebrated her 119th birthday Sunday, which could make her the world’s oldest living person.

Francisca Susano of Barangay Oringao was born on September 11, 1897.

She is older by about two years than Emma Morano of Italy, who is considered by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living person. Morano’s birthday is November 29, 1899.

Guinness however has not yet verified Susano’s birth records.

On Sunday, with her family and friends, Susano marked Grandparents’ Day and her birthday at Zaycoland Resort in the southern Negros city.

Susano and 74 other centenarians in Negros Occidental were honored by the provincial government in November last year. They each received a cash incentive of PHP100,000.

She said in an interview that she got married at 14 and had 14 children, eight of whom are still alive.

The Negros First Centenarian Act gives centenarians a one-time cash incentive of PHP100,000. Under the ordinance, beneficiaries must be a resident of Negros Occidental for at least three years. Those living in Bacolod City are not qualified.
