The Victorian government is providing free qualifications assessment for those living in Victoria. See details here.

Last week, Miss Giang Nguyen, CALD Engagement Specialist of Jobs, Innovation and Business Engagement, Small Business Victoria, had a Zoom meeting with Alice Nicolas, Publisher of The Philippine Times. Giang is encouraging Filipino professionals studying or living in Victoria to have their qualifications assessed. The assessment outcome will help them in looking for jobs. It means the certificate can be used for general employment purposes only. The free assessment is for jobs not requiring registration, licensing, professional membership or other industry requirements. For example, Filipino nurses still need to go to AHPRA for their registration and ANMAC for their skill assessment.

Assessments as evidence

The assessments are used as qualifications evidence for the following:

  • potential employers, human resource departments and recruitment agents
  • resumes/curriculum vitae (e.g., stating that your qualification has been assessed by the Victorian Government’s Overseas Qualifications Unit and includes the Australian-equivalent result)
  • professional associations and educational institutions, including professional bodies or admitting institutions.
