Senior Filo community leader dies

Melbourne, Australia–Community leader Federico Mungcal passed away on 25 June 2011 at the age of 89.

Born on 30 September 1921, Federico leaves behind his wife Nenita Mungcal, 15 children: Angelito, Benjamin, Celia, Delilah, Eliseo, Federico Jr., Generosa, Helen, Imelda, Josephine, Kim, Lucila, Monalisa, Nenita, Oliver and their families with 34 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Federico Mungcal was an active member of the Melbourne Filipino community and an officer of St. Francis Seniot Citizens Club of Whittlesea. He received an Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs – Meritorious Service for his outstanding voluntary service to the Filipino community in the Whittlesea area; particularly for his work with the elderly community.

A Viewing will be held at Basilica Funerals Chapel, 297 High St (cnr Pleasant Rd), Thomastown on SUNDAY EVENING (July 3) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for all those wishing to pay their final respects to Federico.

Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Mr Federico Mungcal will be offered at St Luke’s Catholic Church, 1A David Street, Lalor on MONDAY (July 4, 2011) commencing at 10 a.m. The Funeral cortege will leave the Church at the conclusion of Mass for Burial in the Latrobe Monumental Section, Row BO, Grave no. 54 at Northern Memorial Park, Box Forest Rd, Glenroy.
