Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop announced today that she is resigning from her Cabinet position.
Bishop advised newly-installed Prime Minister Scott Morrison that she will no longer be taking any ministerial post and will instead move to the backbench.
As to whether Bishop plans to quit the Parliament altogether, she said that she will remain on the backbench as a strong voice for Western Australia.
“I have been pre-selected by the Liberal Party for the seat of Curtin and I have made no decision regarding the next election,” Bishop said.

The way Julie Bishop has been attacked by bitter reactionaries in recent years has been awful. She ends her career as the most senior woman in Liberal Party history, was a cabinet minister under Howard & foreign minister & deputy to two PMs. A stellar political career, congrats
