Philippines-Australia Multicultural Association holds Gala Night and Art Exhibition in Ipswich

Ipswich – Edgar Degas once said, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”

On 4 November 2022, the Philippines-Australia Multicultural Association (PAMA) held a gala opening night at the Ipswich Community Gallery for the PAMA Art Exhibition. This was attended by more than 60  people. The Art Exhibition featured the artworks of 31 talented artists with over 80 stunning paintings!

PAMA was founded back in April 2021 with the clear mission to be the bedrock of inclusivity where diversity is a strength hence, this year’s theme: Diversity through Cultural Immersion.

They believe that art is such a powerful force that can promote cross-cultural understanding. With goers from different multicultural communities and more than ten paintings sold, they remained true to their value.

The artists involved were Kareem Acdal, Paian Jhe Olasiman, Stella Martey, Dr Peter Fung, Ling Lee, Peter Fung, Glen Smith, Yui Dinh Vu, Phleonne Jiel Olasiman, Tessa Trinchini, Boni Lelina, Djossha Nieva, Kirsty O’Brien, Denise Taylor, Grant Quinn, Gemma Cruz Goutos, Anatolii Kompanets, Natasha Khmelevska, Chona Massingham, Milagros Rush, Nikki Green, Rina Tiangco Abe, Kuweni Dias Mendis, Stella Gibbs, Kagi Manahil, Priscilla Febrero Sheppard, Jenny Qingmin Gao, Yuming Qin, Lily Wang, Mr.Qi Meng, and Cuiyan Yang.

Councillor Nicole Jonic of the Ipswich City Council graced the event with an empowering speech.

Singer and painter Kareem Acdal won the Artist and People’s Choice Awards during the exhibition.
