Superstitious Erap votes at high noon in San Juan

Eight minutes.

That was how long former President Joseph Erap Estrada took to cast his vote in the country’s first nationwide automated polls in Pedro Cruz Elementary School in San Juan yesterday.

The former president voted straight for Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) at 12:02 p.m. submitting his ballot for Precinct Counting Optical Scan (PCOS) at exactly 12:10 p.m.

Estrada explained that he made sure that it took him eight minutes to cast his votes because eight has been his lucky number since he was born eighth into a family of ten children.

Before voting, Estrada visited his old home where he grew up in F. Sevilla Street in Brgy. Pedro Cruz in San Juan to while away time, making sure he would cast his vote at exactly high noon, another superstitious tradition that made him win since he first ran as mayor in San Juan in 1969.
