ACFE obtains RTO status

A Filipino-owned international health care training centre in Melbourne has been certified as a registered training organisation (RTO) by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

The ASQA accreditation of the Australian Centre of Further Education (ACFE) Pty Ltd is a first for a health care training college headed by a Filipino.

Equally important, ACFE was also granted formal recognition recently by the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

As a CRICOS provider, ACFE can now deliver courses and training to overseas students, particularly those under the Commonwealth Student Visa 572 program.

ACFE has been accredited for two courses namely, Certificate III in Aged Care and Advanced Diploma of Nursing.  Students completing these courses can be issued with an Australian Qualification Framework qualifications or statements of attainments.

Raul Hernandez, CEO of the ACFE, said recognitions from both the ASQA and CRICOS is a testimony to the centre’s continuing efforts to deliver quality training. ACFE was established in 2009.

ACFE has provided traineeships to overseas nurses from at least 8 countries, including the Philippines, India and China. Many of ACFE graduates have been gainfully employed in Australian health institutions under the ANMAC Accredited Course, IRON (Initial Registration for Overseas Nurses) Program.
