Young Filo wins Miss Junior Diamond title

An 11-year-old Filipino-Australian made waves in the beauty pageant scene.

Serenity Charles won the Miss Junior Diamond Australia when she recently competed in a national pageant Miss/Mr Diamond Australia 2019 held at Emporium Hotel Brisbane on 12-13 April 2019. Her passion since she was 3 years old to become a beauty queen paid off—all the hard work to raise funds for her charity, public appearance and media appearance. On top of that, she brought home the Publicity and Public Choice awards. Serenity wants to share her achievements to all Filipinos who voted for her and supported her all the way through the finals.

The pageant does not only recognise beauty, but also the generosity and heart of each contestant. Every contender chose a charity close to their hearts from all over Australia. Serenity picked HeartKids Foundation because her older brother was born with a congenital heart disease. As a way of saying thank you, she raised funds and shared awareness on the Foundation.

According to its website, “HeartKids is the only national profit for purpose charity dedicated to supporting children, teens and adults affected by congenital heart disease all across Australia. We also fund life-saving research, provide information and advocate for these families’ needs.”

During the two-day pageant, Serenity enjoyed meeting other contestants all over Australia, doing rehearsals, boat party, power rounds, and their pre-judge interview before the finals. The contestants had an amazing experience showing love and respect to each other and making new friends. On the night of the coronation on 13 April, they each delivered their charity speech and answered the question on their chosen charity.

The contestants did a fun fashion show where they showcased their favorite outfits and their evening gowns.
