Adobo Tasting Experience at South Australia History Festival

The tantalising aromas and rich cultural tales of Adobo, the Philippines’ most cherished dish, filled the air at the South Australia History Festival, held on 17 May 2025 at the Minor Works Building, Adelaide.

This culinary experience at the festival’s tasting history program shone a bright spotlight on Adobo, revealing its deep connection to the state’s stories of Filipino resilience in the spirit of multiculturalism, migration and diaspora.

Artists Lourdes Duenas-Blinco and Valerie Berry, with adobo expert Maria Teresa Kelly hosted a captivating cooking demonstration, sharing the “secrets” to preparing this iconic dish. Attendees were immersed in the culinary art, followed by a delightful complimentary tasting of the freshly prepared Adobo and crunchy asian salad. The flavourful experience was rounded out with samplings of Grenache wine, fostering a wonderful community atmosphere and amalgamation of flavours.
