Back to Life in Spring

The sight of the morning fog slowly lifting and being replaced by warm sunshine from my bedroom windowsill reminds me that Spring is here once again.

Spring is my favourite season. It signifies rebirth, hope, new life, and fresh beginnings. The days grow longer, nights shorter, and the warmer air invites us outdoors to enjoy nature and have fun. Once again, our eyes feast on the colours of flowers and plants returning from their Winter hibernation.

Like the cycle of life, each season brings lessons. The weary cold of Winter eventually gives way to the warmth of Spring.

My favourite lemon tree was stricken by disease late last Summer and through Winter because of Citrus Gall Wasp. We didn’t lose hope. We pruned the infected branches, nurtured the tree, and cared for it. Now, in Spring, fresh leaves are sprouting from the trunk—signs of life that bring us joy.

Birds now flock to our backyard, chirping cheerfully as if to announce the arrival of Spring. Even my little bunny hops and twirls happily, enjoying the sun.

One of my favourite passages comes from Thomas Merton’s Seeds of Contemplation:

“It is God’s love that speaks to me in the birds and streams but also behind the clamor of the city God speaks to me in God’s judgments, and all these things are seeds sent to me from God’s will.”

I believe that by appreciating His creations, we draw closer to Him. Spring overwhelms us with beauty and reminds us to accept and follow His will.

The past five months felt like Winter in my life—filled with frustrations and trying times. Yet on the positive side, I learned to see life differently. Those struggles made me stronger and better.

I’ve returned to what I love most: writing and music. With renewed freedom, I can now continue the sequel to my novel Moments of Love, Lust and Ecstasy.

Spring encourages us to plan activities before Summer’s heat arrives. We can enjoy parks, museums, and family picnics, or simply spend time gardening. The season is short—before we know it, Spring will be over.

Despite the uncertainties we face, Spring reminds us that there is always hope. I firmly believe Australians are tough and resilient. With cooperation, we will overcome our challenges. Stay safe, Australia, and may God bless us all.

Excerpt from my book — Reflective Contemplations

The season of winter is akin
To the darkest moments of our lives.
Unforeseen, traumatic tragedies may happen,
But with faith in Him,
And support from loved ones and friends,
We can overcome all predicaments.
Soon Spring will be around—
New hope, new beginnings,
Our journey rosier than ever.
