Buwan ng Wika On-the-Spot Poster-Making Contest in Melbourne

The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne in collaboration with Philippine Language School, Inc. will organize a Buwan ng Wika On-the-Spot Poster-Making Contest on 20 August 2022, 5:00 pm, at Parish Hall 46 Ballarat Road, Maidstone 3012. 

The following are the mechanics: 

1. The Poster-Making Contest is open to the following group categories: 

a. Category 1 – Secondary School Age – from 13 to 18 years old; and 

b. Category 2 – Adult – 19 years old and above

The deadline of registration is on 16th of August 2022

3. Participants must submit one entry only. 

4. The poster must be done in free hand from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, exactly an hour, and illustrate, interpret and signify the relevance/theme of the Buwan ng Wika celebration. The theme will be announced during the start of the contest proper to test participants’ creativity. 

5. Participants will be provided with art paper and an illustration board. They must bring their own art supplies of their own choice, which can be any or a combination of the following: 

a. Pencils, pens or markers; 

b. Pastels, crayons, colored pencils, pastel pencils, watercolor pencils, ink, oil acrylic and watercolor 

c. Other necessary materials and tools, such as brushes, palettes, erasers, rubbing alcohol, fixatives and other chemicals, spatulas, sharpeners and rulers and other needed supplies. 

6. The posters will be judged according to the following criteria: 

a. Creativity and presentation – 40 % 

b. Originality – 30% 

c. Relevance to the theme – 30% 

7. The Board of Judges shall be composed of the following: 

a. Representative from Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne; 

b. Representative from the Philippine Language School, Inc 

c. Guest Artists

8. A winner and a runner up will be chosen for each age category with cash and other exciting prizes, including a Certificate from the Philippine Consulate General and a framed artwork (Lino-cut) from Filipino-Australian artist Joel Magpayo (for the top 2 winners).
