More than a thousand Filipinos attended the concelebrated Mass in celebration of the Feast of San Lorenzo at St. Brigid’s Church last 28 September 2014 in North Fitzroy.  The Filipino Grand Chorale of Melbourne with choirmaster Theresa Medina sang during the mass. Fr Bong Luistro delivered the homily.

A procession of the icon of San Lorenzo was held after the Mass. A lunch and program of activities were also held at the nearby hall. Fr Bong Luistro delivered the homily.

Performers were: Couples for Christ Music Ministry, Excelsis Choir, Rochellie Vee Son, Filipino Choir of St Anthony, Filipino Choir of St Francis, Frankston Filipino Support Group Inc, MiGen Juniors, Michelle Dela Pena and Thor Cortez, Northern Lights Choir, and Salih Basic.

Novena Masses were held at St Brigid’s Church in honour of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila from 19 September to 27 September 2014. These were led by various Filipino religious and community groups, while songs were provided by Filipino choir groups. Fr Laurence Cortez, Fr Delmar Silva, Fr Joey Echano, Fr Rowan Luza, Fr Bong Sunaz, Fr Boy Galdo and Fr Litoy Asis were the presiding priests.
Lorenzo Ruiz is the first Filipino saint. He is also the first Filipino martyred for the Christian Faith.
