Cruise line launches new US to Australia itinerary

In a world where flights are heavily used to travel great distances, the use of ships has dramatically decreased, especially for trips that take more than a day.

However, this is not the case with cruise ships, which continue to expand, increasing their routes year by year.

A new interesting itinerary has been launched by Holland America, and will allow people to travel from the United States to Australia without taking a plane.

The trip is called Grand Australia and New Zealand Voyage and will depart from San Diego, California, in 2026.

As the name implies, the ship will reach New Zealand and Australia and then return back to the US in 93 days, calling at different ports along the way.

The line’s chief commercial officer said:

“Our Grand Voyages are renowned for connecting guests with the world’s most fascinating places while sailing roundtrip from the United States.

Our team crafted this itinerary to show guests the parts of Australia and New Zealand they expect to visit, but also included frequently asked for, but rarely visited, ports throughout Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.”

During the 93-day voyage, passengers will visit 44 ports and 10 different countries, including paradise islands and stunning natural landscapes.

According to the itinerary provided by the cruise line, there will be six overnight calls in Honolulu, Fremantle, Sydney, Hobart, Auckland, and Papeete, and four late-night departures from Adelaide, Moorea, Raiatea, and Huahine.

What might discourage some passengers is the price, which could be quite high.
However, according to cruise blogger Cruise with Leo, who has traveled on many long cruises, it’s always best to book as early as possible since the price tends to increase as the cruise date approaches.

In addition, guests who book in advance will receive extra benefits such as onboard spending credit, $500 air credit per person if booked through Flight Ease, roundtrip airport transfers, luggage delivery service, and a 3% pay-in-full discount.
