EziStreat, a popular food hub owned and operated by Seyun Kim, hosted the Manila Samu’t Sari Market on 13 July. The market, conceptualised by Kim and coordinated by Adelio Antonio, attracted an estimated 600 attendees eager to experience Filipino traditions through food, performances and crafts.
“Samu’t Sari“, meaning assorted in Filipino, reflected the wide variety of offerings at the market. Food stalls tempted visitors with Filipino delicacies such as turon (banana fritters), lechon, champorado (chocolate rice porridge), ‘dirty’ ice cream, ensaymada and other traditional dishes, while craft vendors showcased the Barong Tagalog and terno (gown), handmade products and Pinoy grocery items.
Local Filipino-Australian singers charmed the audience while folk dance performances from the Maharlika Dance Group added to the festive atmosphere. The event also featured a prize draw, with lucky attendees winning prizes including a return trip to the Philippines courtesy of My Travel Solutions.
The success of the first Manila Samu’t Sari Market inspired the organisers to plan another Filipino-themed event. They expressed their delight at the positive response and appreciated the opportunity to provide a platform to showcase Filipino culture.
“We are thrilled with the turnout and the overwhelming support for the Manila Samu’t Sari Market,” said Kim. “It was a true celebration of Filipino heritage, and we hope everyone who attended had a memorable experience,” he added.
The event not only delighted food enthusiasts and culture aficionados but also highlighted the growing presence of the Filipino community in Melbourne. EziStreat has previously hosted similar events celebrating diverse cultures and communities.
