FASTCO Unveils Futureproof Strategy to Elevate Filipino-Australian Student Community in Victoria

FASTCO, the Filipino-Australian Student Council of Victoria, ushered in a new era for Filipino international students with the launch of its three-year strategic plan at the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne on February 22, 2024. The event showcased a strategic plan rooted in the values of engagement, relevance, inclusivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

FASTCO President Reymond Pepito spearheaded the presentation, revealing the outcomes of an extensive and inclusive process incorporating input from various stakeholders. The strategic plan aims to position FASTCO as a key driver in fostering academic excellence, cultural pride, and personal growth among students with Filipino heritage in Victoria.

Themed “Futureproof,” the 2024-2027 strategic plan focuses on promoting shared Filipino and Australian values, professional growth and development, international cooperation centralised on ASEAN-Australia relations, academic excellence, and wellness and welfare.

Esteemed strategic partners, including Philippine Consul General Maria Lourdes Salcedo and Gary Lee, Manager of International Education from the City of Melbourne, endorsed the initiative. Students from leading institutions and guests from the Filipino-Australian Lawyers in Victoria (FALAW) and The Empowered Australian Multicultural Society (TEAMS) emphasised the broad impact of FASTCO’s initiatives. Talks on inclusion and sustainability by FASTCO’s Vice Presidents Carmen Roceli Lopez and Lara Jean Salaysay added depth to the event, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to creating an inclusive and sustainable environment.
