FCCVI Hosts Australia Day 2025 Family Fun Fair

Brooklyn, VIC – The Filipino Community Council of Victoria, Inc. (FCCVI) will host the Filipino-Australian Family Fun Fair on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Filipino Hub, Unit 10/463A Somerville Road, Brooklyn VIC 3012. This free event is part of the Australia Day 2025 celebrations and aims to bring the community together through cultural and family-oriented activities.

A Day of Cultural Activities

Supported by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council, the Family Fun Fair will begin at 9:00 AM with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country led by the Wurundjeri People, acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land.

The event will feature cultural presentations, including traditional Filipino Muslim dances, showcasing the rich heritage of the Filipino community.

Throughout the day, attendees will hear from local representatives and guest speakers, including Vivienne Nguyen AM, Chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission; Dr Daniel Mulino MP, Member for Fraser; Cr Thuy Dang, Mayor of Brimbank City Council; and Consul General Maria Lourdes Salcedo from the Philippine Consulate in Melbourne. These speakers will address the community on topics that celebrate cultural diversity and unity.

Activities and Features

The event will feature a range of activities for all ages:

  • A Kids’ Zone
  • Local Pop-Up Markets showcasing Filipino and multicultural products
  • Cultural performances and community presentations
