Filipino international student appeals for help after father’s passing in Australia

Kim Marquez, a Filipino international student in Melbourne, is seeking financial help following the tragic passing of her 61-year-old father, Clarito Marquez, who suffered a massive stroke while visiting Australia for his grandson’s birthday. The family now faces hospital bills amounting to over AUD $130,000, not including medication and doctors’ fees.

Mr. Marquez was rushed to Monash Hospital in Clayton and underwent emergency brain surgery, staying in the ICU for three weeks before being transferred to palliative care. He passed away soon after. As visitors, Mr. and Mrs. Marquez did not have health or travel insurance.

Kim and her family are humbly appealing for financial assistance to help cover the medical expenses and the costs of repatriating her father’s cremated remains to the Philippines.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Please consider donating to their GoFundMe campaign (to be updated) and sharing their story to help them through this heartbreaking situation.

For direct contact, you may reach out to Kim at kim.marquez7316@gmail.com or on +61 488 278 642.
