National survey launched to measure Filipinos’ skills and volunteering impact in Australia

A national survey has been launched to capture the contributions of Filipinos in Australia, both as skilled professionals and as active volunteers in the broader community.

The initiative is led by Carmen Garcia AM, the 2025 Filipino Australian of the Year, who also serves as Honorary Philippine Consul in South Australia and is the CEO and Founder of Community Corporate, a national award-winning multicultural workforce specialist helping refugees and migrants gain employment in Australia.

Garcia said the survey aims to build a clearer picture of how Filipinos are helping drive productivity and social cohesion across the country.

“I think it is important that Filipinos in Australia are known for much more than our food and festivals – as amazing as they are. We have highly skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, community advocates and volunteers, and I am determined to better tell our story,” Garcia said.

She added that the survey aligns with the Federal Government’s emphasis on boosting productivity and recognising that human capital and national performance are strengthened not only by paid work but also by volunteerism.

The survey is open until mid-January 2026, and all Filipinos in Australia are encouraged to take part and help record the community’s collective impact. Results will be compiled into a national report, supported by case studies from community leaders across different states and territories.
