Filipino star baller Kai Sotto to play in Melbourne on March 20

The National Basketball League has announced its upcoming fixture for Round 16, with Melbourne United to host Adelaide 36ers at John Cain Arena in Melbourne on March 20.

The game will start at 1:30pm. Book early to get the best seats through Ticketek: https://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/Show.aspx?sh=UNITED1622

Ticket prices are from $13-$50. For court side seating email: corporate@melbourneutd.com.au

Sotto, at 7 foot 3 inches brings not only height but extreme talent on the basketball court and with this, a big dream of one day playing in the NBA. Already this 19-year-old is an inspiration to the Filipino community in Australia, particularly the younger generation, proving the hard-working ethic of Filipinos is key to unleashing success.

After his arrival in Adelaide in September last year, Kai Sotto played his first game in Cairns on 18 December. Due to Omicron, interstate games in Melbourne and Sydney were postponed to late February and March.

The Philippine Times has reached out to the NBL and Adelaide 36ers to organise a meet and greet with some members of the Filipino community. If a meet and greet will be organised, it will be announced on The Philippine Times Facebook page in the lead up to the game.

Officials from the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne will be present at the game, along with media representatives from The Philippine Times and SBS Filipino.

Recently Kai has struggled with a thigh injury and his team have had four straight losses. It is hoped he will recover in time for the game in Melbourne, and that Adelaide 36ers will rebound in it’s home game against the New Zealand Breakers.

Melbourne United are the reigning NBL Champions and are currently at the top of the NBL League 2021-2022 Ladder.

For those unable to attend the game, it can be watched around Australia on ESPN which is available on Kayo and Foxtel, as well as 10 Peach on Free-to-Air TV.
