Magpayo to showcase prints in exhibit

Artist Joel Magpayo or Ka Joel, resident cartoonist of The Philippine Times, will present a selection of his work from TRUMPETERsolo and rotary shows from the past 20 years in an exhibit titled Painter as Printmaker. The show will open on 22 November and will run until 19 January 2014 at the Boadle Hall, Incinerator Gallery, 180 Holmes Road, Moonee Ponds.

Ka Joel paints to the ideas of simplicity and beauty, which give him rewarding glimpses of the joys of living, as said in his exhibit invitation. Learn more about Ka Joel’s art from artid.com/joelmagpayosnr.

Ka Joel’s work was recently cited in the 2nd Multicultural Media Awards (MMA) as Best Editorial Cartoon. The MMA, which was inaugurated last year, is chaired by Hon Shaoquett Moselmane MLC, member of the NSW Legislative Council.
