MANILA, Philippines — Australian Ambassador Steven James Robinson presented his credentials to President Rodrigo Duterte at Malacañang last on January 15 and expressed hope that the relationship between his country and the Philippines would become stronger.

In a tweet, Robinson said he was excited to be Australia’s envoy to the Philippines, which he described as “a long-standing and important partner.”

He also conveyed to Duterte the “best wishes” of Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Australia Commonwealth Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the Philippine Embassy in Australia congratulated Ambassador Robinson on his presentation of credentials to President Duterte.

Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega and Ambassador Robinson had an opportunity to meet in Canberra, Australia on 08 January 2019 where they reaffirmed the importance of the Philippines-Australia Comprehensive Partnership.

“The Philippine Embassy in Australia looks forward to working with Ambassador Robinson in furthering the long-standing partnership between the Philippines and Australia and wishes him success in his tour of duty,” the Embassy said.
