Meet newest PPop girl group BINI

Eight talented young ladies make up the newest PPop Girl Group – BINI. Short for Binibini, the group comprises Mikka, Stacey, Sheena, Aiah, Maloi, Colet, Jhoanna and Gwen.

It was a very long journey for the BINI girls who responded to ABS CBN’s Open Auditions back in 2018. The auditions were for various shows, including Pinoy Big Brother (where two of them joined). Together with other hopefuls, the girls came back for Boot Camp in 2019. They went through and passed a series of eliminations before being called back in May 2019 (together with the members of PPop boy group BGYO) to join Star Hunt Academy. Here they underwent intensive Korean Pop training, eliminating contestants during each evaluation. The final eight was announced last February 2020, and BINI was given their pre-debut last November 2020.

Being launched during the middle of a pandemic is unquestionably a disadvantage, but the girls try to look positive instead. Because of being locked in together in the same house, they get more practice time and know each other better, which is essential as timing is one of the basics in Pop groups.

BINI has been together for almost three years now, and a regular day for them includes waking up at 7 am, doing modules for school, 4 hours each of dance and voice lessons, and going live at Kumu from 6 to 7 pm making video requests from fans. They bond through watching movies, doing TikTok videos, and their love of food in their free time. On their cheat days, they eat their favourites: pizza, ice cream and cookies. They happily shared that recently, their management gave them a treat where they ate out and finally got to attend Mass inside the Church physically.

Although they acknowledge that their Korean training has taught them much about discipline, the girls said that they still uphold their trademark as young modern Filipinas. They do this through the messages of their songs, like in their first single: Born To Win

Nothing is impossible for these determined and talented girls who wish to acquire world domination through their music. Someday, they wish to meet their supporters and perform worldwide, including in Tokyo, Seoul, and Coachella. They also want to promote the Philippines and what it offers by collaborating with local designers, choreographers, and coaches and highlighting the beautiful spots in their music videos, encouraging the fans to know more and visit the country.

Watch out for BINI and BGYO’s collaboration concert coming this year. Meanwhile, you can catch the girls through their socials: @BINI_ph on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Kumu.
