Philippine Airlines to relaunch Cebu-Bangkok route in December

MANILA – Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will resume flights between Bangkok, Thailand, and Cebu starting Dec. 9, over two years since it halted servicing the route.

In an advisory on Thursday, PAL said twice weekly services (every Monday and Friday) would be offered.

The flight from Mactan-Cebu International Airport will be scheduled at 9:30 a.m., while the flight from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport will take off at 1:30 p.m.

“Our Bangkok-Cebu flights give us the opportunity to grow the Philippines-Thailand passenger market, using our Cebu regional hub to boost tourism and economic development,” said PAL President and COO Stanley Ng.

As passengers from Cebu will no longer have to fly via Manila or other airports, Ng said PAL is happy to offer nonstop links to other major markets in Asia.

The three-hour flight between Cebu and Thailand will use a 199-seater Airbus A321ceo aircraft.

Aside from Bangkok, PAL also flies to Tokyo-Narita and various cities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao via the Cebu hub.
