PHLtheBEAT, the Filipino youth dance group from Darwin, has reached a significant milestone with their very first sold-out headliner gig. Formed in 2020, the group has become a prominent name in the local dance scene, celebrated for their exceptional hip-hop performances and their special connection to Filipino cultural dance. PHLtheBEAT has had the opportunity to learn about the diverse Filipino culture during major events in

Darwin, where they worked closely with choreographer and lumad from the Philippines, Aian Agton.

Through his guidance, PHLtheBEAT gladly participated in cultural dance performances, helping to preserve and share Filipino traditions with the wider community. This experience adds depth to their performances, making them stand out for their unique blend of contemporary hip-hop and traditional cultural dance. The sold-out show is a testament to the hard work, talent, and passion of the group, who have quickly gained recognition in the community.

Through their performances at various Filipino events, collaborations with local artists, and efforts to teach younger generations, PHLtheBEAT continues to inspire and make a lasting impact on Darwin’s multicultural landscape. This achievement marks just the beginning for PHLtheBEAT as they continue to grow, bringing pride to the Filipino community and preserving cultural traditions while making their mark in the world of dance.
