TIVAI participates in Nationwide Clean Up Australia Day 2022

Clean Up Australia Day started in 1990 by an avid Aussie sailor, Ian Kiernan. Inspired to make a difference in the community, he worked with friends and the local community to get involved to address the growing rubbish problem. His his initiative has since become Australia’s largest community-based environmental event.

The organisation, Clean Up Australia, has grown to work with community, government and businesses, including Triskelion to develop solutions and improve methods of helping society to become more sustainable.

In 2022, the focus is on “preventing rubbish entering our environment as it is removing what has already accumulated.”

Clean Up Australia inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment. So as part of its annual tradition to save Mother Earth, the Triskelion International of Victoria Australia Inc. (TIVAI) continued their advocacy by participating in the Clean up Australia 2022 community event last Sunday, 6th March 2022 at Cherry Lake, Altona in Victoria.

This initiative was organised and led by TIVAI Chairman Louie Sarte and spearheaded by Vice Chairman Emerson Domingo. TIVAI members and their families, together with other community volunteers picked up all the rubbish along the 4km foot path and around the lake shore. The team managed to sort the rubbish out accordingly before disposing them in the bins provided by the council.

Hobson’s Bay City Council, Mr. Shaun Young – Waste and Litter Community officer partnered with TIVAI and provided support to making this clean up drive happen.

Being a fabulous day in Melbourne, after the clean up had been completed, family and friends of the group joined for a nice sausage sizzle and Filo brunch at the park to celebrate the success of their hard work and contribution to Clean up Australia Day.

TIVAI praises the participants and volunteers for their contribution and time. To join in future, contact Emerson Domingo at emerson_domingo18@yahoo.com.
