In a stunning display of vocal prowess and stage presence, 11-year-old Zsofia Cabacis from Melbourne, has claimed victory in both the semi-finals and grand finals of the prestigious TaketheMic singing competition’s Junior Contemporary Division.

Zsofia’s journey to the top began on May 5th at the semi-finals, where she captivated judges and audience alike with her rendition of Whitney Houston’s classic hit, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Her performance stood out among 28 talented contenders, showcasing not only her impressive vocal range but also her undeniable stage charisma.

Building on her early success, Zsofia secured her place in the competition’s grand finals, where she delivered a soul-stirring performance of “The Greatest Love of All.” Her heartfelt connection to the song left a lasting impression on the judges and secured her the title of Grand Winner against 13 other finalists.

Zsofia’s achievements were celebrated by judges Cassie McIvor and Henry Rollo, who presented her with a trophy, certificate, and an exciting concert opportunity.

Beyond her triumph at TaketheMic, Zsofia is set to showcase her talents as a Principal Vocalist at the upcoming Victorian State School Spectacular (VSSS). Under the direction of Neill Gladwin as Creative Director and Chong Lim, AM as Musical Director, Zsofia will perform alongside other gifted young artists at John Cain Arena on September 14th. The event, known for its dazzling displays of talent, is expected to draw over 10,000 spectators for each of its two performances.

The VSSS, a hallmark of Victoria’s cultural calendar, will not only provide Zsofia with another platform to shine but will also be televised on Channel 7 in December, allowing viewers across the nation to witness her exceptional talent firsthand.

Zsofia’s dedication and remarkable achievements at such a young age serve as an inspiration to aspiring musicians everywhere, solidifying her place as a rising star in Australia’s vibrant music scene.
