“Rhythm of the Philippines”: A Vibrant Celebration of 125 Years of Philippine Independence in Blacktown

Blacktown, Australia – To celebrate the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence, the Filipino community, in collaboration with the Blacktown City Council’s Sister Cities Committee, is proud to present “Rhythm of the Philippines,” a captivating cultural presentation. This special event will take place on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at Bowman Hall, located at 35 Campbell Street, Blacktown.

The festivities will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at 1:00 pm, followed by the main show from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. “Rhythm of the Philippines” aims to showcase the rich heritage and vibrant culture of the Philippines, serving as a testament to the enduring spirit of Filipino independence.

The event will feature talented Filipino community performers, including the renowned YAPAK, Filoz Arts Group, students from Plumpton High School, the Blacktown City Community Band, and the exceptional classical guitarist Jomy Villarante. Audiences can expect a captivating showcase of traditional Filipino music, dance, and artistic expressions that will leave them enthralled.

After the show, light refreshments will be provided, allowing attendees to mingle and savour the flavours of Filipino cuisine. This will allow community members to engage with one another and celebrate the rich cultural tapestry that the Filipino community brings to Blacktown.

Attendees are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the occasion by wearing traditional Philippine clothing, such as the elegant Filipiniana attire for women and the dashing Barong Tagalog for men. This will add a touch of authenticity to the celebration and create a visually stunning atmosphere.
