7000 Islands Wines Puts Filipino Flavours on Show at St Kilda Spirits Festival

The St Kilda Spirits Festival in Melbourne on Sunday, 17 August 2025, featured more than 30 stands of local and international producers. Among them, 7000 Islands Wines proudly represented the Philippines with its flagship Ube Cream Liqueur, a unique spirit imported directly from home.

Filipino presence at the festival

The festival drew spirit enthusiasts, industry figures, and community members together to sample a wide variety of craft wines and liquors. Among those who visited the 7000 Islands stand were Consul General Gary Domingo, Consul Ralph Vincent Abarquez, and former Honorary Consul Raul V. Hernandez, who showed their support for the Philippine brand.

Owner Siegfrid “Siggy” Bacani and his team guided visitors through tastings of the ube-based drink.

From Sydney to St Kilda

This Melbourne showcase follows on from the brand’s participation at the Sydney Spirits Festival, where 7000 Islands introduced Filipino spirits such as lambanog, coffee liqueurs, and the award-winning Ube Cream Liqueur. These events highlight not only the variety of Filipino drinks but also the growing curiosity among Australians for distinct flavours from the Philippines.

Ube Cream Liqueur and more

Ube Cream Liqueur has quickly become the brand’s flagship product and is now readily available in Australia through the 7000 Islands Wines website, Costco, Dan Murphy’s, and select online retailers. Its smooth, creamy texture and distinct purple yam flavour have made it a favourite for both Filipinos abroad and adventurous Australian consumers.

Alongside ube, Bacani and his team have also promoted other Filipino drinks to the Australian market. Lambanog, a traditional coconut spirit, and coffee-based liqueurs have been featured at previous events. Filipino craft beers, too, have started to gain international attention, with recent recognition at the 2025 Australian International Beer Awards, further proving that the Philippines has more to offer than many might expect in the world of brewing and distilling.

Raising the Filipino profile

Through events like the St Kilda Spirits Festival, 7000 Islands places Filipino flavours alongside some of the world’s leading distillers. Its presence in Melbourne not only introduced Ube Cream Liqueur to new audiences but also underscored how Filipino products are steadily gaining recognition on Australia’s craft spirits stage.
