PAMA Victoria raises $10,000

The Philippine Australian Medical Association, Victoria (PAMA) was able to raise close to $10,000 during its first fundraising dinner-dance event for its medical missions in the Philippines. Attended by around 200 guestst, the event was held last 7 June 2014, 6pm at the Mulgrave Country Club in Wheelers Hill.

The funds will go to the PAMA’s charity projects and humanitarian aid in the Philippines and to the professional development of its members to equip them with high standard training for patient care.

Filipino singers Jennifer Dizon and Kim Lim sang Advance Australia Fair and Philippine National Anthem acapella. Seventeen-year old Samantha Ramirez played a piano concerto and harp. Samantha was offered a scholarship to the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School in 2009 and is currently in her final year. She was accepted into VCASS for the piano in year 7 and received Honours for her AMEB Certificate of Piano Performance in 2012.

Roberto and Marie performed a salsa dance and Tango Argentine. The couple showed their cha cha moves together with Bayani and Arlene and Melvin Diez and Jopen Quintero.

Special guests were  Dr Jun Bantatua, President of PAMA NSW and Dr. Afaf Haddad, Medical Director Head of Anatomical Pathology.

Mr Ted Apostol, one of the PAMA Board of Directors, and Ms. Divine Basa served as the emcees.

PAMA Victorian chapter officers are President, Dr Lorinda De Leon; Vice President, Dr Anne Marie Uy Kimpang; Secretary Dr Jojie Apostol; Treasurer, Dr Rosario Palaypayon, and PRO, Dr Armando Sta Ana.
