Filipino Engineers Take Oath to Lead New PICE International Chapter in Australia

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – Commonwealth of Australia Chapter formally marked a milestone for Filipino professionals in the country with the oath-taking of its Interim Board of Directors and 30 founding members on March 6, 2026, at the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne.

The event celebrated the establishment of the new international chapter, officially recognised as International Charter No. I-14, which was granted on October 18, 2025. Filipino engineers and community leaders gathered to witness the induction of the organisation’s pioneering members, who are set to lead its professional activities and initiatives in Australia.

The program opened with remarks from chapter president Alexander Genota, followed by a message from Philippine Consul General Jesus R.S. Domingo, who administered the oath of membership and oath of office for the interim board.

A keynote message was delivered by Regina Paz Sy, an Overseas Qualified Engineer member of Engineers Australia (Victoria), who spoke about the growing presence of Filipino engineers abroad and their contributions to innovation and infrastructure development.

Highlights of the evening included the recognition of life members, the presentation of the 30 founding members, and the introduction of the chapter’s Interim Board of Directors and officers. The program concluded with closing remarks from First Vice President Julius Marvin Flores, followed by fellowship among attendees.
