5 pieces of green technology you need in your home

Did you know that more than 33% of people in the United States are willing to pay more so that they can make more sustainable choices?

With climate change occurring at such a rapid rate, the best method the world can take to prevent destruction is going green.

If you want to do your part and make your home more sustainable, there are a few innovations to try.

Keep reading to learn about the latest green technology that can make you efficient and clear your conscious!

1. Wind turbine

One of the best types of green technology that people are installing around their rural homes is wind turbines.

Wind turbines provide living green technology that can run the electricity in your home. Although you won’t need an entire farm of wind turbines, you will still need to research if you can qualify for this type of energy.

2. Solar water heater

If you are considering solar power, you should also look into getting a solar water heater.

Traditional water heaters use a lot of electricity and natural gas to run efficiently. Solar hot water heaters convert the sun’s energy into power to heat your water at home. This type of water heater can save you money in the long run, some people save up to 80% on their bills!

A solar hot water heater will get used while showering, washing the dishes, and cleaning clothing.

3. Dual-flush toilets

Have you ever been in a bathroom and seen multiple options to flush?

These options are available to help preserve water and save energy. Older toilets can use nearly a third more energy than standard toilets, and the dual-flush options save you even more. Since this task can get challenging, it is best to call in a plumber for help.

One of the buttons gets used for liquid waste while the other is for “solid” waste.

4. Smart thermostat

Another wonderful piece of green technology is a smart thermostat.

Smart thermostats can get controlled over your phone. You can manage the temperature and keep it lower when you are out of town. The day that you come home, you can turn the heat on again and know that you saved a lot of energy.

A smart thermostat will also help you identify weak spots in the house that are letting cold or hot air inside.

5. Solar lights

LED lightbulbs are a great option for reducing waste and leaving the smallest carbon footprint.

Solar lights are an even better way to go green since they get their energy from a natural source. Solar lights can bring your energy bill down and they tend to last longer than traditional lights. You can use solar power for lights inside and outside of the home.

What green technology will you try?

Switching over to green technology can help you save money and leave a smaller carbon footprint on the planet.

Green fuel technologies, like wind and solar power, are increasing around the country. People are trying to help extend life on Earth by transitioning to more sustainable options that also help lower utility bills.

Don’t be afraid to make these changes, it might be an initial investment, but the rewards are worth it.
