ADOLP to attend International Pilgrim Congress

NAGA CITY 16TH SEPT AND 17TH SEPT

The Australian Devotees of Our Lady of Penafrancia has recevied an invitation from Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi to attend the International Pilgrims Congress on Sept 16-17 2010 at the Penafrancia Basilica, Naga City. According to Archbishop Legaspi, the International Pilgrim Congress as part of the Tercentenary Celebration will be a grace-filled activity where enlightenment, renewal and healing can take place.

The Lady of Penafrancia has been part of our identity and culture. Since 1710, INA has been around as our steady inspiration in life and our refuge in need. Marking the 300 year of Penafrancia, according to Archbishop L:egaspi is actually celebratijng our faith and commitment as a people – a triumph of the Bikolano spirit. Ultimately, our love for INA leads us to GOD who makes things happen through her.

Other activities in Sept 2010 for the Tercentenary celebration include

2 – 10 Sept – Novena Prayers for the Divino Rostro ( the Holy Face)
10 Sept – Traslacion Procession (transfer of the venerated images from the Basilica of Penafrancia to Metropolitan Cathedral
10 – 18 Sept – Novena masses for Ina at the Cathedral
18 Sept – Embarcacion or the Fluvial Procession ( return of the venerated images from the Cathedral to the Basilica through the Bicol River
19 Sept – Fiesta Sunday in Naga City

There will be around 30 ADOLP devotees who will join the pilgrimage to Naga City. A meeting of the pilgrims will be held after the 1st Saturday novena mass at St Nicholas of Myra on 3 July 2010. The pilgrimage was coordinated with Pilippines Airlines, Philippine Tourism and Philippine Consulate in Sydney.

The Feast Day celebration in Penrith will be held earlier on Saturday 4th September. papers. Novena mass will be held at St Nicholas of Myra at 10:00 am followed by fluvial procession at the Nepean River at 12:30 pm. Lunch, program and entertainment will follow at the Tench Reserve, Factory side.
