This is not about an affair we wish to remember from our early elicit love life, but an event that is to remind us of the affair we have with charity, our simple acts of charity that helps our fellow kababayans back in the Philippines.
The event was held on the 13th May, 2017 at the Marconi Club in Bossley Park. The reason for this deliberate quote from the Hollywood Movie “An Affair to Remember” made in 1957, starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, which looks at the many love songs or theme songs from various musical productions.
This is a fundraising event to raise funds to place down a concrete floor and build a roof for the Catholic Chapel, San Sebastian Barangay in Ramon, Isabela Province, Philippines. The funds raised from tonight’s event will go towards APCO Inc.’s HEAL (Humanitarian, Emergency and Livelihood) Projects.
The concert is very lucky to acquire the talents of three very exquisite talented voice types. I am talking about Linda Trinidad who is a Soprano, Marcus Rivera a Baritone, a veteran of various stage productions like Miss Saigon, and The Lion King. With Brian Lorenz who is a Tenor and a talented multi-award winner of some 8 awards. When put together all three voices blended so well, that one can say it really is “an affair to remember.” The audience was provided with an array of numbers from Italian, Filipino and English Songs, like “Granada”, “Quando Quando” and a Porky and Bess song called “Tonight.”
Just for your information the vocal range of the baritone lies between the bass and tenor ranges, overlapping both of them. The Baritone voice type is the most common male voice. The Tenor is a male singing voice whose vocal range is one of the highest of the male voice types. The Soprano is the highest singing voice for the Females. So you can see the event was indeed fortunate to be graced by such talented voices. The band that provided such excellent music to accompany the three singers was Anthony Vadala’s Band.
During the night the Filipinas Dancers, comprised of Emma Braceros, Dian Ford, Juliet Vella and Aresna Frost provided the two backup dance acts for Linda Trinidad’s Filipino Songs.
One of the finale songs was the joint rendition of the Phantom of the Opera songs like “Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You” and the theme song itself, the “Phantom of the Opera.”
The Production was put together with the help of Flagcom members Charles Chan, Albert Prias and Michelle Baltazar, with thanks.
To have not attended the night would be to miss out on a truly spectacular night that is truly “An Affair to Remember.”
