American comic Rex Navarrete to help raise funds for Philippine typhoon victims

MAS Presents is proud to announce that the premier American-Filipino comedian Rex Navarrete will be returning to our Australian shores this month. He will do shows at Club Italia in Sunshine on Saturday February 15 and Burwood RSL in Sydney on Sunday February 16. Part of the proceeds generated from the shows will be donated to the Typhoon Haiyan victims from the Philippines.

Rex Navarrete has performed his brand of comedy all across the USA touring numerous colleges, universities and community events. He has shared the limelight alongside national headliners George Lopez, DL Hughley, Rob Schneider, Arj Barker and Paul Mooney to name a few. He has become a household name in Filipino American homes. His return Down Under should bring plenty of smiles back to the Filipino-Australian community in Melbourne and Sydney, respectively.

Navarrete first came to prominence in the late ’90s through the use of characters, many of whom were struggling underdogs. His portrayals, which ranged from his ESL teacher Mrs. Scott, the SBC Packers, to his Uncle Boy and to Maritess the domestic worker, gave him the voice to air his thoughts on issues and speak about things that otherwise wouldn’t be mentioned. Navarrete gathers all of his material from what he calls “real Rex moments,” reality and shared life experiences.

“Rex is a very funny comedian.” – George Lopez, Lopez Tonight

Navarrete finds the universality in the American immigrant experience – while still managing to get in a few jabs at Filipino icons like boxer Manny Pacquiao.” – Goldstar

He holds the distinction of becoming the most celebrated stand-up comic to perform to multiple sold-out shows in Manila, Hong Kong and Singapore since 2002. He regularly returns to Manila, which has become fertile ground for his style of stand-up, inspiring the growth of an emerging local stand-up comedy scene. Australian fans eagerly await his arrival.

Rex Navarrete is certain to make audiences laugh all day, so be sure to grab your tickets.

Tickets are available now on www.eventixlive.com.au. Hurry before they run out!
