Cebuano Association raises $15,000

The Cebuano Association was able to raise over $15,000 plus pledges during its Fundraising Night for the victims of typhoon Yolanda last month at the Springvale Town Hall. Around 700 people attended the event.

Two days after the event, Alex Sy, Cebuano Association President, said that the officers of the Association have decided to send a total of $10,000 to the following relief agencies: Jaycees Cebu, Rotary Cebu, Red Cross Cebu, Red Cross Bohol, and ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya.

Sy also said that there was an overwhelming response from generous Victorians, including companies. The Association is sorting out relief goods and will be sent off to the above local relief agencies. “Whilst we are fortunate the International Relief Agencies have focused on the larger cities that have been severely affected, our focus are the remote villages, towns and provinces strewn across Central Visayas,” he said.
