Couples for Christ members rock, raise funds

Fred Jover

Rocking and swaying to the cool music played during the night, brethren and guests of the Catholic charismatic lay community, Couples for Christ-Foundation for Family and Life (CFC-FFL), definitely proved that they know how to let their hair down on the right occasion. The event last 17 October held at the Holy Family Parish Hall, Mt Waverley, was the 4th annual DiscoRama fundraising dance of the CFC-FFL community, whose members come from different suburbs of Melbourne as well as South Gippsland region of Victoria.

For the first time in four years, Discorama became star-studded with the presence of Philippine entertainment celebrity/singer Miss Isabel Granada who added glamour and excitement to the event. The 4th Discorama is a result of collaborative effort of all community elders and members coordinated by Boy and Ruby Banaag. The raffle prizes given away were primarily solicited by Mrs. Badette Espina, a real estate advisor of Profine Constructions Pty Ltd.

As the CFC-FFL Melbourne/Victorian community is a non-profit and non-funded group, it mainly relies on fundraising events like the Discorama to support its various activities like community evangelisation seminars for all age group, Parish-based retreats, Marriage Enrichment retreats, annual conferences attended by members from all over Australia and New Zealand, as well as its poverty alleviation projects in the Philippines

The Melbourne and other Australian communities are part of the global CFC-FFL community present in more than 55 countries worldwide with over 150,000 members, mostly migrant and expatriate Filipinos. It is rapidly gaining membership from the local population of the countries where they are present, especially where Christianity is the predominant religion.
