Excelsis Catholic Choir holds first concert

The Excelsis Catholic Choir held its first concert last 15 December 2013 at the Christ Our Holy Redeemer Parish in Oakleigh. Most of the choir’s 25 members are Filipinos.

Choir Conductor Tom Buchanan is happy to train the choir members saying despite being formed only five weeks before their first concert, they rendered the songs pretty well. “I think they are great!,” Buchanan told The Philippine Times.

Fr John Magri, in his welcome speech, said the Excelsis Choir represents a thanksgiving of beautiful voices which will be useful in the church. “They look professional, they sound professional,” he said.

Some of the songs the Choir have rendered were: “Gloria”, “The Lord is My Shepherd”, “Do you Hear What I hear?, “Grown Up Christmas List”, “Granada”, “Nessum Dorma” , “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “Away in a Manger”; “Serenada”, “Santa Baby”, “The First Noel” and “Freedom is Coming”.

Excelsis Catholic Choir is still accepting new members. Please email excelsismelbourne@gmail.com.
