Dante Maribbay, President of the Filipino Communities Council of Australia Inc (FILCCA), has announced that FILCCA will hold its biennial Filipino Conference and Youth Summit from 19 to 21 October 2018 at Novotel Perth Langley Hotel in Perth, Western Australia.
The event is a gathering of Filipino-Australian community leaders, members and other stakeholders across the different states and territories to discuss various issues that affect their communities. It aims to bring back to communities the empowering tools and knowledge obtained from a collective agreement of the conference. FILCCA is the national umbrella organisation of Filipino organisations in Australia.
The theme, “Strengthening Filipino Communities through Unity and Service”, will define the outcome of the conference in advancing communities and engaging community leaders in better and active nation-building.
The topics for discussion include aged care reforms, empowering women, housing cooperatives, challenges faced by skilled workers and working students, best practice in advocacy and lobbying and migration and citizenship.
There will be a Gala Night where outstanding state and national community leaders, including the Filipino-Australian of the Year Award will be awarded. The Gala Night is attended by representatives from all levels of government as well as members of the media and business and industry leaders.
Registration for the full conference including the Gala Night is $130. An early bird rate is available at $110 but should be paid by 31 August 2018. Other registration rates include conference only at $60; Gala Night, $70; and youth forum delegate, $50.
