FilOz Association of Student Councils (ASCEND) raised $2,700 cash donations for health workers serving COVID-19 patients in the Philippines.
The campaign called Filos4Heroes aims to provide personal protective equipment (PPEs) to frontliners in the Philippines.
In its Facebook Page, FilOz ASCEND thanked all those who donated!
“We’re proud to say that in total, we have raised a sum of AU$2700. Our project to assist our medical frontliners amidst the COVID-19 crisis would not be successful without your helping hand in bringing the bayanihan spirit to life,” the FB post said.
FilOz ASCEND is an alliance of Filipino students organisations in different States including ANU Filipino Association – ANUFA (ANUFA), Adelaide University Filipino Club – AUFC (AUFC), Filipino Student Council of New South Wales (FSC-NSW), Queensland Filipino Youth Association (QLD FYA), Filipino Student Society Tasmania (FSST) and Filipino-Australian Student Council of Victoria (FASTCO).
FilOz ASCEND briefed Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega on their initiatives Filos4Heroes supporting health workers in the Philippines.
They also told the ambassador their current efforts to bring together Filipino student organizations all over Australia to ensure there is representation from every State and Territory and their vision for a Filipino Australian Student Leaders Summit in the future.
The ambassador understands that the students are facing many challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We appreciate that amidst these challenges, you chose to come together and initiate Filos4Heroes to raise funds for purchasing personal protective equipment for health frontliners in the Philippines,” Ambassador De La Vega said.
