Filipino-Australian actor Haji Myrteza plays Larry

Sydney, NSW – Filipino-Australian actor and producer Jordy Manalo Shea is producing Company, a musicale by George Furth and Stephen Sondheim, as part of the Sydney University Musical Theatre Ensemble’s (MUSE) Repertory Season. The production features a cast of 14, including another Filipino-Australian actor Haji Myrteza. Company’s director is Ash Kurrle, and its musical director is Allister Haire.

Company follows the story of Bobby, a 35 year old who finds it difficult to commit. It also has a sub plot of five married couples, who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends. Set in New York, the show opens with Bobby’s 35th birthday. Many people love and cherish him, but others are sceptical about his commitment levels.

Haji, who hails from Rockdale, NSW, plays the role of Larry. Larry is a hopeless husband, and is always belittled by his wife Joanne.

Jordy, the show producer, is no stranger to theatre. He has performed extensively in musical and dramatic theatre. He has been performing since the age of 14, and has produced and performed in events ranging from stand-up comedy, dramatic theatre, theatre in education, and musical theatre. His credits include Lés Miserables, Keating!, As You Like It, and The Producers. He is currently studying for an Arts degree at the University of Notre Dame Australia, majoring in Theatre. He plans to take up post-graduate studies in playwriting after graduation.
