Freemason Lodge Family Camping Fundraiser

Must read

Maritime Lodge 569 recently organized an exciting and heartwarming family camping event aimed at raising funds for two important causes: supporting the young members of DeMolay Victoria and helping the Western District generate funds for FoodBank Australia.

Held at the beautiful Tidal River Campground, Wilson Prom National Park, Victoria last 30 Nov to 2 Dec, the event attracted families from the members and community, all eager to enjoy a weekend of outdoor fun while supporting a great cause. The 50 participants were treated to a variety of activities including hiking, fishing, kids’ games, and a series of team-building exercises designed to bring families together in a spirit of camaraderie and community.

One of the key beneficiaries of the event was DeMolay Victoria, an international organization dedicated to preparing young men for leadership, good citizenship, and ethical decision-making. Known for its focus on personal development, DeMolay provides young men with opportunities for mentorship, service, and fellowship, all within the framework of positive, moral values.

Maritime Lodge members have long supported DeMolay, recognizing its importance in shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Funds raised during the camping weekend will go toward DeMolay’s Victoria chapter, helping to provide educational programs, activities, and leadership opportunities for its members. The goal was not only to provide financial assistance but also to foster a sense of community and encourage local youth to become actively involved in positive, character-building experiences.

The second cause supported by the event was assisting the Western District-117 in generating funds for FoodBank Australia to purchase a new delivery vehicle. FoodBank Australia works tirelessly to ensure that no one in the community goes hungry. In the holiday time when food insecurity continues to be a significant issue for many families, the camping fundraiser event was a reminder of the power of community and how collective action can make a real difference.

A portion of the event’s funds will be allocated for the goal of the Western District-117 in purchasing the vehicle for FoodBank Australia. Many families took part in contributing funds to help the Western District-117 drive to purchase a vehicle for FoodBank Australia, ensuring that food assistance can be provided to those who need it most.

The camping event was not just about fundraising but also about strengthening bonds between the members and the local community. Families enjoyed spending quality time together, away from the distractions of daily life and had the opportunity to meet other family members who share similar values. Maritime Lodge provided a space for individuals of all ages to connect, learn, and give back in meaningful ways.

Children participated in a variety of fun outdoor games, while parents enjoyed the opportunity to relax and engage in meaningful conversations about the importance of giving back to the community. Even the youngest campers were involved in activities such as arts and crafts, hiking, and playing on the beach, all designed to keep the entire family entertained.

The visit from the various local wildlife such as wombats, possums, parrots and birds was a fun enjoyable moment for the children and adults.

The success of the Maritime Lodge’s family camping event is a testament to the power of community when people come together with shared purpose and values. The event raised significant funds for both DeMolay Victoria and FoodBank Australia, ensuring that both organizations can continue their vital work within the community.

Looking ahead, Maritime Lodge plans to make this camping fundraiser an annual tradition, the next scheduled camping will be on the 10-12 Jan 2025, at the Grampians and we are hoping to inspire more families to get involved and make a difference. In addition to raising money, the event served as a reminder that, regardless of age, everyone has the ability to contribute to the greater good.

For the Maritime Lodge, the event was a perfect blend of adventure, family fun, and charitable giving—a true reflection of the values they hold dear: community, service, and brotherhood. With the success of this year’s event, the Lodge looks forward to building on these efforts and continuing to support the youth of DeMolay Victoria and Freemason Victoria Charities in the years to come.
