“I suppose the combination of my analytical mind with my family bloodline
of good drawers plus my colourful life experience is what ‘me’ and my paintings
are all about,” narrates Bernabe of her style. Bernabe hails from an artistically inclined
family who shares particular talent in drawing, his two sons not exempted.

She describes her art as “abstract and semi-abstract, and contemporary.” Bernabe
relates her penchant for this style, “I like abstract because it has no rules, no
boundaries and no limitations. Only the artistic sense will dictate the next move.”
Bernabe also dabbles in photography, and captures images which are candid
and portrays “expressions of unguarded emotions.” Currently, she sponsors the
bi-annual art competition Ivabelle Awards in Dipolog City, Philippines, which is her
way of “giving back to our people.”
