Sa gilid ng pader ng buhay ay maganda ang samahan ng lahat,
Sama-sama sa kalungkutan, kainan at kantahang walang puknat,
Iisa ang dinarasal pati ang tunog nitong halakhak,
Iisipin mong walang katapusan itong pagtitinginan at galak.

Pero ang hangin ay biglang naiba ng mag-umpisa kang umakyat,
Sa pader ng iyong pangarap para umangat at makalipat,
Mga katoto mo ay biglang nagulantang o nagulat,
Sa bawat sikad nitong paa para maabot ang nakasulat.

At mga kaibigan mo ay biglang tumahimik,
Tawanan ay nawala ilan ay hinihila ka ng pabalik,
Ang iba naman ay di makatingin at pag-akyat ay di pinapansin,
Kunwari ay walang nakikita, ang mata ay sa iba nakabaling.

 

IV
Walang anu-ano sa pader ay may biglang lumapit,
Na isa ring kaibigan at sa gilid nito ay tumindig,
Ibinigay niya ang balikat para maka-apak ka, makasandig,
Ng marating mo ng madali ang minimithi mong daigdig.

 

V
Ngunit habang naririyan ka sa ganyang mga proseso,
Pagtingin ng ilang kaibigan mo sa iyo ay nagbago,
Ang ilan ay nanlamig, ang ilan ay lumayo sa iyo,
Habang ang ilan ay nagka-ugaling di mo alam kung papano.

 

VI
At narating mo na nga ang iyong pinangarap sa mundo,
Kaibigan mo ay nadagdagan naging daan-daan, libo-libo,
Kaibigang ang sariling balikat ay iniatang para sa iyo,
Tunay nga siyang karayom… sa mga dayami at damo.
