Manny G. Asuncion’s long-time dream to publish his collection of plays came into fruition last 30 August 2014 at 501 Reception Footscray. “Seasons: An Anthology of Filipino Australian Plays Down Under” is a compilation of seven of the best plays he wrote and directed in Melbourne such as Winter’s Chill, Autumn Sonata, Ikalawang Tag-Sibol ni Mang Florante and Summer Butterflies.

The intimate celebration gathered together Asuncion’s three sisters, Fely, Tessie and Yolly and their families who flew all the way from South Australia and his friends and co-workers. The launch also coincided Asuncion’s 70th birthday celebration with songs and tribute highlighting his life and works as a writer, playwright, stage director, interpreter, translator and a community worker for more than 30 years.

During the launch, incoming Philippine Honorary Consul Felix Pintado delivered the opening speech. Three composers, Leonie Wenden, Raul Roxas and Roly Limun who all wrote the scores to some of Asuncion’s lyrics in his plays sang. Anthony Crisostomo also performed a special number.
