MOTHER’S LOVE

Giving without expecting in return

Loving with all thy heart no matter what

Understanding when others fail to understand

Supporting in times of sorrow and grief

And most of all

Always being there for thy children in every way

– AN EXCERPT FROM MY BOOK, THE REALITIES OF LIFE

The celebration of Mother’s Day will be so different this year. The inexorable present situation of COVID-19 that we are all experiencing will have a subdued effect in the way we will celebrate Mother’s Day. Nevertheless, it will not hinder us from giving the acknowledgement to the most loved people on earth…MOTHERS

The love of a mother is an intense unquestionable feeling, that does not require any explanation at all. Their sacrifices, love, their juggling of their work to care for their children are some of the many of the reasons why Mother’s Day should be celebrated.

The bonding of a child started at the womb of a mother. The mother nourishing her unborn child, to make them stronger each day and carrying the child for nine months. After birth, the baby will taste their first precious liquid of life coming from the mother’s bosom. Such is a beautiful bond and connection between a mother and child. The love and connection between a mother and a child resonate and manifest not only in humans but also in the animal kingdom here on earth.

I once saw a documentary on TV with a lion who protected her cubs to the extent of sacrificing her life to the predators just to keep her cubs unharmed. An unmistakable act of love of the lion to her cubs.

As a child whenever we are scared, distressed or anxious, whom do we called first? Our mom, of course. Hence this symbolised our trust for her. As a child we found comfort from her hugs and kisses and I believe that the love of a mother is the greatest and the most powerful love of all.

As we grow up, at times we can be at loggerhead with our mom, we became rebellious and probably we do not realise the hurt we inflicted to her. However, as soon as we have our own family and have our own children, we only then appreciate our mothers.

Let us not only celebrate Mother’s Day once a year, we should acknowledge our mothers every day of the year, after all once you lose your mother you lose the best person on earth.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers in the world!
