New website aims to help carers find work and meet the demand for in home care

Careseekers is an exciting new online service which brings together people looking for care work and people looking for carers. Careseekers provides an opportunity for Australia’s ageing population and other groups needing in-home carers to access affordable and flexible in- home care specific to their needs. The first phase of the website has just launched and Careseekers is looking for carers to register their details to be part of the carer database when the site officially launches in October 2014.

Careseeekers is not an agency, it allows carers to create their own profile for free and provide information about their training, qualifications, experience and other important information such as available languages spoken. Carers can set their own rates of pay and define the hours or days they wish to work. People looking for carers will contact the carers on the website and will also post jobs that carers can apply for with the click of a button. No more trawling websites and constantly applying for advertised jobs.

May works as a carer, she has a certificate in Aged Care and has signed up to the website. “It is a very easy website to use I know it will save me a lot of time. I look forward to getting approached for jobs to fill in the gaps in my week when I am available to work.”

Careseekers is the first website in Australia where carers can be given reviews and rated on criteria such as punctuality, reliability and helpfulness. Co-founder Lauren Hockley says, “Hiring a carer is an important and often difficult decision. People need to be get access to as much information as possible before deciding whom to trust to look after their loved ones. The Careseekers website helps to provide the necessary information and ensures that high quality carers are given ratings and reviews to help find work on an ongoing basis.

The aged care sector is fast growing and as has been well documented, there is an increasing need for in-home carers. Careseekers.com.au gives carers a new way to find care work throughout Australia. Lauren adds, “We are encouraging all carers to sign up to the website throughout the month of September so that they are part of the Careseekers carer database when the website officially launches in October.”

To sign up, please visit their website: www.careseekers.com.au or call 1300-765-465.
