The Philippine Robotics team newly-represented by Grace Christian School received the Silver Award for Gracious Professionalism at the 2019 First Lego League Asia Open Championship.

The event was held on 4th to 7th July 2019 at the Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. The competition engaged 43 teams (over 400 students) from 21 countries. FFL’s theme for this year was “Into Orbit” coinciding the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Mission in 1969.

Grace Christian School came next to Germany in this winning category which was judged according to high quality work, value for others and respect individuals and community.

This award is the Ethos of FLL. The team was composed of Alexis Diane Ngo, Heart Bernice Tan, Gen Bernardine Dy, Denzell Robyn Dy, Ethan Russell Uy, Zoe Angeli Uy, Arabelle Galupe, Ziyang Zhang, Kylie Danielle Sy, and Chrysille Grace So with coaches Arlyn Jordan and Warren John Ong Pe. 

Grace Christian College also ranked top 7 in the Robot Game. Its Infinity Board project was an innovative solution to enhance recreational activities in space to a whole new level. It introduced a portable tabletop board game system that incorporated augmented reality and classical board games with microgravity to its advantage. This project aimed to eliminate the monotony of astronaut’s routines during their free time.

Livingstone International School from Angeles City also represented the Philippine Robotics team this year and ranked Top 3 in Teamwork Core Value of the Championship for their Spirulina Project. It featured the cultivation of Bioluminscent Spirulina Bacteria and Kilo power for the production of energy in space.

The Silver Award won by Grace Christian College at FLL Asia Pacific Open Championship 2019 in Sydney, Australia concluded the FLL season 2019.

Other awards won during the season were Championship Award (Finalist) by Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc. at FLL World Championship 2019 in Houston, Texas, USA (April 2019) and Gold Award – Project Presentation by Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc. at FLL European Open Invitational Turkey 2019 in Izmir, Turkey (May 2019).

Felta Multi-Media Inc. is the organiser of the Robotics teams that represent the Philippines in international open competitions and championships yearly.
